I recently jumped back into the dating scene. While the dating scene can be a hit-or-miss, there’s nothing like having an unforgettable date. You know, those dates that get your palms sweaty and your heart racing. There are so many options for going out on dates nowadays.

Between heart-pounding escapades and walks along the waterway, I’ve rounded up 30 of the best must-try date ideas that are anything but your typical dinner-and-a-movie night.

So, grab your partner-in-crime, and let’s dive in.

30 Unique Date Ideas in Myrtle Beach

Here are the best things to do in Myrtle Beach for couples that, as a local, I have curated for you.

1. Ride the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel

Ride high above Myrtle Beach in our SkyWheel. The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel was introduced to the town in May 2011 and is located at the Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade.

The SkyWheel stands nearly 200 feet above the shores, making it a unique destination for your next date. You can get a fresh perspective of the beach.

The SkyWheel has 42 fully enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas open year-round.

You can book tickets on their site or in person. Adult tickets are $18.99 each (plus tax). You can also purchase photos of your ride and a voucher to dine at LandShark Bar and Grill.

2. Have a Picnic in Market Common

Having an outside picnic means you need nice weather, but it’s a wonderful option when the season is right.

Gather your picnic feast at the nearby Publix, then find a spot to settle down. Lay down your blanket, put out your spread, and you’ve got yourself a date.

It beats going to a restaurant, where there can sometimes be awkwardness. A picnic allows you to be slightly more casual and can take the edge off.

3. Swing at the Park

After your picnic, I recommend taking a walk around the Grand Lake. The views are beautiful, but I love the playgrounds along the way the most.

Take your date to a playground and swing on the swings. It’s an old past time most forget about, but love to do it. Swinging always makes me feel like a kid again. See who can jump the furthest or hang out and chat.

Check the times for the playgrounds and try to plan for a time when there aren’t too many kids around. When you get the swings to yourself, it’s magic in the air.

4. Take a Walk at Brookgreen Gardens

Brookgreen Gardens has been named one of the top 10 parks to visit in America. Tickets are $20 per adult, but the walk is worth it. Your ticket includes all gardens and galleries, the Lowcountry Zoo, and exhibits in the Lowcountry History Center.

The sculpture garden and wildlife preserve boasts beautiful gardens to walk through and the sculptures are magnificent.

If you’re lucky enough to be here during the winter time, go to the yearly Nights of A Thousand Candles. It’s one of the South’s most beloved holiday events.

Brookgreen Gardens comes to life with the glow of more than 2,700 hand-lit candles and millions of sparkling lights.

5. Stroll Conway Riverwalk

The Conway Riverwalk is a tranquil path bordering the Waccamaw River. It has benches, grassy areas, and playgrounds along the way.

It’s a great place to take a stroll along the riverfront. Once you’re done strolling the riverwalk, you can stop at the playground or check out the arboretum.

6. La Belle Amie Vineyards

This 40-acre vineyard has belonged to the Bellamy family since the 1800s. Formerly a tobacco plantation, it’s been passed down through their family for generations.

La Belle Amie Vineyards hosts music festival concerts every Saturday, barring weather events.

If you just want to check out the concert, tickets are $10 but for an additional $8 you can also do a wine tasting. I personally recommend the wine tasitng. As long as you’re of age, this can be a great date place.

7. See the Sea Life at Ripley’s Aquarium

Another unique date idea would be to visit Ripley’s Aquarium and take in the sea life. They have an underwater tunnel for you to glide through and watch the sharks and fish from below.

Tickets are $40 per adult, but if you’re a Myrtle Beach local and have ID, you can receive 50% off.

Insider tip: If you’re looking for some extra fun, you can splurge on a Penguin Pass. In the Penguin Encounter, you get 30-minutes to hang out and touch a penguin. It’s an additional $70 on top of the admission ticket, but trust me, it’s super cool.

8. Murrells Inlet Marshwalk

The Murrells Inlet Marshwalk is a great place to go walk and talk. It’s located in the heart of Murrells Inlet and offers scenic views on your walk.

It’s a ½ mile boardwalk along a saltwater estuary. Watch the marsh grasses dance and look out for great white herons, blue herons, pelicans, and more.

When you’re done with the Marshwalk, you’re surrounded by plenty of waterfront diving and live nightly music.

9. Go On a Ghost Tour

If you’re in for a little spookiness, take your date for a ghost tour. It’s an excellent opportunity to hold them close while you’re regaled tales of centuries-old tragedies.

Check out Myrtle Beach Ghost Tours by US Ghost Adventures. Discover the truth behind our haunted shores and uncover mystifying tales of the past.

Tours last 1 hour along a 1-mile walking distance and are held every night. Tickets are $16, plus any add-ons, like 4 additional haunted locations or a ghost plushie to take home.

10. Get a Tarot Reading

For a really unique experience, head over to Labyrinth Walking and get a tarot reading done. The shop has everything you could ever need for meditating and relaxation, but the tarot reading would be fun for you to do as a couple.

Your tarot reading will provide insight to the current goings on of your life. This method of divination can provide valuable information about your soul path, and what’s in store for your relationship.

11. Take a Helicopter Ride

A helicopter ride is a bucket-list activity for many residents in Myrtle Beach. Several helicopter companies will take you up into the air.

It used to be a popular way to ask people to prom, or even proposals, and it can serve as your own little romantic adventure as well.

Depending on your route, tours may last as little as 3 minutes or as long as 20 minutes. Take a spin in the sky and get a birds-eye view of the city, high-rise hotels, nearby beaches, or upgrade to more extensive rides that follow the coast as far as the North Carolina border.

12. Roller Skate at Fun Warehouse

Roller skating brings back a whole bunch of nostalgia. Luckily, it’s still alive and well in the Myrtle Beach scene.

Head over to Fun Warehouse, where you can participate in numerous fun activities. Roller skating can be a unique idea that not many couples take up.

When I was younger, it was all the rage, and everybody looked forward to coupling up with their sweetheart for a go around the rink. It’s $12 per person for all day skating, but that’s not all the Fun Warehouse offers!

13. Play Laser Tag

Team up or play against each other in an epic game of laser tag. It’ll get the adrenaline running and your heart pumping.

Fun Warehouse offers a 3,500-square-foot multi-level arena with an urban combat environment. It’s $12 per game.

Laser tag could be just the thing to spice up date night. It’s something different than movies and dinner. It gets you on your feet and active and makes a great experience.

14. Explore Miniature Golf Parks

I don’t know about you, but for me, one of the most fun and best things to do for a couple is playing mini-golf. Myrtle Beach, often referred to as the mini-golf capital of the world, has dozens of variants for you to play.

One of the locals’ favorites is the Hawaiian Rumble Miniature Golf. At one point, this course was rated number 1 in the world. The 18-hole mini-golf course is centered around a Hawaiian Garden with a 40-foot volcano in the middle of the course.

Another local favorite is Captain Hook’s Adventure Golf. Explore Neverland and discover Peter Pan’s story and the famed Captain Hook.

15. Get Your Swing On at TopGolf

Myrtle Beach is well-known for its golfing, so it’s a golfer’s paradise if you’re into it. You can get your swing on at TopGolf, one of Myrtle Beach’s premier entertainment venues.

To get started at TopGold, you’ll book a bay either online or in person. If you’re going with a group, I recommend to book in advance. Once you check in, you can pick your game and have at it.

16. Break Out of Riddles Escape

Another unique date option is to do an escape room game. If you don’t mind being trapped in a room, you have one hour to discover puzzles, riddles, and clues or crack secret codes to escape the room.

The room isn’t really locked and you can get out at any point, but it could be fun to put your heads together and get a mental workout. Escape rooms require deduction and reasoning, so it could be something special.

You can book with just two players, so it can be you and your date. You can have your choice of multiple escape rooms.

17. Try Jack Axe Throwing

If you’re looking for something really unique to do, try jack-axe throwing. It’s an exhilarating experience bound to get your blood pumping.

One of the staff members will train you on how to throw an axe, then let you aim away. They’ll guide you through the basics, ensuring fun and safety are top priorities.

It’s a one-of-a-kind place to have a date night. You’ll take turns aiming and hurling axes at wooden targets. It can be incredibly satisfying to throw and hit the mark.

Trust me, you’ll never forget this date experience.

18. Race Each Other at Broadway Grand Prix

The Broadway Grand Prix is located across the street from Broadway at the Beach. Broadway Grand Prix is a fun place where you can race go-karts

Adults taller than 48 inches can get a pass for $46.99 and get one day of unlimited rides. There are 7 Go Kart tracks, 8 kids rides, bumper cars, and 2 18-hole mini golf courses, leaving you plenty of options to explore.

I recommend to race each other on the tracks then take a break to grab a snack at the Grand Prix Café.

19. Jump at the Trampoline Park

One of the best things to do for couples in Myrtle Beach is go to the trampoline park.

Remember how those swings brought out your inner child? Well, it’s back and ready to jump on some trampolines. A 90-minute jump session is $21.99 per adult. You can also choose an all-day pass if you want to jump all day.

Sky Zone has dozens of different jump attractions including, but not limited to, sky tower, freestyle jump, ultimate dodgeball, warped wall, and a ninja warrior course. It’s located across from the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

20. Go to an Arcade

There are arcades all over the place and they make an excellent date option. Check out Player 1Up in Murrells Inlet or Dave & Busters at Broadway and the Beach.

No matter where you go, arcades are always fun. They offer a plethora of games to play and make a playful place for a date.

Game your way and choose from many of the fantastic games the arcades offer.

21. Bowl at 810 Billiards & Bowling

Another fun date idea is to go bowling at one of our local bowling joints. One of the more popular bowling spots is 810 Billiards & Bowling, located in Market Common.

Dig into the festivities and the food. Bowling is a lowkey way to have fun and get to know each other, all while enjoying bowling food.

22. Relax at Paint & Unwind

If you’re looking for something more lowkey and relaxed, check out Wine & Design. Go on a creativity date and find something fun to paint with a nice glass of wine.

While they don’t sell alcohol, you’re welcome to bring your own booze to drink.

Most classes last about 2 hours and include all the necessary materials to complete your artwork. Classes can range anywhere from $29 to $50.

23. See a Show at The Carolina Opry

The Carolina Opry, built in 1992, is a Grand Strand landmark. Calvin Gilmore, the man behind the legacy, has several shows that run throughout the year.

The most popular shows are The Carolina Opry, Time Warp, and The Christmas Show of the South.

Get a seat and take in the breathtaking music The Carolina Opry has to offer. With different shows, it appeals to a wide range of folks.

Winter means the Christmas Special is up and running most of the time, so be sure to check out the regular Carolina Opry and Time Warp when you get the chance.

24. Watch a Performance at Legends in Concert

Watch these legendary performers bring their iconic musical counterparts to life. Take your date out to a night at Legends in Concert and you’ll fall in love with the music.

These live tribute shows are known for their elaborate theatrical sets, magnificent costumes, and full array of incredible special effects.

25. Laugh at Comedy Cabana

Grab your date and head to a show at Comedy Cabana. With a mix of open mic nights and scheduled performers, you’ll have a laugh any time of the week.

Comedy Cabana is Myrtle Beach’s only 5-Star Comedy Club, running for 24 years. They feature some of the top acts in comedy like Lewis Black, Bob Nelson, Gary Valentine, Josh Blue, and more.

All of their headliners have national television credits, including platforms such as Comedy Central, HBO, and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

26. Uncover Secrets at Riga-Tony’s Murder Mystery Dinner Show

Spruce up your typical dinner date by making it an immersive murder mystery dinner show. You’ll witness several comical crimes, that you will have the chance to solve.

Tickets are $49.99 per person. Riga-Tony’s Murder Mystery Dinner Show offers a unique chance to get to know your date.

You’ll have fun solving mysteries in addition to having a great meal.

27. Pirates Voyage Dinner Show

You’re invited to watch Captain Scrooge and his henchman, Bob Crachit, for this unforgettable experience at the Pirates Voyage Dinner Show.

The pirate crews battle each other to gain the coveted treasure and give you a show you won’t soon forget.

28. Grab a Crepe at Crepe Creation Café

One of my local favorites, Crepe Creation Café, is a great informal place to meet up for brunch or a cocktail.

They serve all kinds of delicious crepes in addition to other appetizers and entrees. The crepes are one-of-a-kind and will delight your senses.

They have a little bit of everything, from breakfast crepes to sweet crepes to savory crepes. They cover all your bases. Breakfast crepes are typically served until 12 PM, so you have all morning to stop by and get one.

If you’re stopping by in the evening, get one of their signature cocktails and your selection of crepes.

My personal recommendation would be to get a Banana’s Foster crepe split, but chances are it’ll be so good you’ll each want your own.

29. Melt Your Senses at The Melting Pot

The Melting Pot is the original fondue restaurant where guests can dip various foods in cheese and chocolate fondue. They make the fondue fresh at your table and provide skewers so you can safely dip your food in the hot, melted spreads.

There’s no other experience like this. It’s a spot for anything from your regular day to a special night out.

The chocolate fondue is to die for, but I’d be lying if I said the cheese fondue wasn’t any good. You really can’t go wrong with either one.

30. Dine at Croissants

Without a doubt, Croissants is one of my favorite places for breakfast and brunch. It’s great for a morning date.

Savor their delicious sandwiches and bakery items. You’ll definitely want to grab one of their bakery items for dessert. Your date won’t be complete without the triple chocolate mousse cake for two.

Nobody wants to go out on a boring date. Going out on dates should be fun and adventurous.

Trying something new is a great way to learn about each other while enjoying yourselves at the same time. Dates don’t have to be all movies and dinners.

These 30-date ideas should keep you busy for a while. They make great getting-to-know-you dates and dates for long-term couples.

The best dates are the ones where you make memories together. When it comes down to it, all that really matters is the time you spend together. Your options are endless. Go create memories.
