I recently jumped back into the dating scene. While the dating scene can be a hit-or-miss, there’s nothing like having an unforgettable date. You know, those dates that get your palms sweaty and your heart racing. There are so many options for going out on dates nowadays.
Between heart-pounding escapades and walks along the waterway, I’ve rounded up 30 of the best must-try date ideas that are anything but your typical dinner-and-a-movie night.
So, grab your partner-in-crime, and let’s dive in.
30 Unique Date Ideas in Myrtle Beach
Here are the best things to do in Myrtle Beach for couples that, as a local, I have curated for you.
1. Ride the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel
Ride high above Myrtle Beach in our SkyWheel. The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel was introduced to the town in May 2011 and is located at the Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade.
The SkyWheel stands nearly 200 feet above the shores, making it a unique destination for your next date. You can get a fresh perspective of the beach.
The SkyWheel has 42 fully enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas open year-round.
You can book tickets on their site or in person. Adult tickets are $18.99 each (plus tax). You can also purchase photos of your ride and a voucher to dine at LandShark Bar and Grill.
2. Have a Picnic in Market Common
Having an outside picnic means you need nice weather, but it’s a wonderful option when the season is right.
Gather your picnic feast at the nearby Publix, then find a spot to settle down. Lay down your blanket, put out your spread, and you’ve got yourself a date.
It beats going to a restaurant, where there can sometimes be awkwardness. A picnic allows you to be slightly more casual and can take the edge off.
3. Swing at the Park
After your picnic, I recommend taking a walk around the Grand Lake. The views are beautiful, but I love the playgrounds along the way the most.
Take your date to a playground and swing on the swings. It’s an old past time most forget about, but love to do it. Swinging always makes me feel like a kid again. See who can jump the furthest or hang out and chat.
Check the times for the playgrounds and try to plan for a time when there aren’t too many kids around. When you get the swings to yourself, it’s magic in the air.

4. Take a Walk at Brookgreen Gardens
Brookgreen Gardens has been named one of the top 10 parks to visit in America. Tickets are $20 per adult, but the walk is worth it. Your ticket includes all gardens and galleries, the Lowcountry Zoo, and exhibits in the Lowcountry History Center.
The sculpture garden and wildlife preserve boasts beautiful gardens to walk through and the sculptures are magnificent.
If you’re lucky enough to be here during the winter time, go to the yearly Nights of A Thousand Candles. It’s one of the South’s most beloved holiday events.
Brookgreen Gardens comes to life with the glow of more than 2,700 hand-lit candles and millions of sparkling lights.
5. Stroll Conway Riverwalk
The Conway Riverwalk is a tranquil path bordering the Waccamaw River. It has benches, grassy areas, and playgrounds along the way.
It’s a great place to take a stroll along the riverfront. Once you’re done strolling the riverwalk, you can stop at the playground or check out the arboretum.
6. La Belle Amie Vineyards
This 40-acre vineyard has belonged to the Bellamy family since the 1800s. Formerly a tobacco plantation, it’s been passed down through their family for generations.
La Belle Amie Vineyards hosts music festival concerts every Saturday, barring weather events.
If you just want to check out the concert, tickets are $10 but for an additional $8 you can also do a wine tasting. I personally recommend the wine tasitng. As long as you’re of age, this can be a great date place.
7. See the Sea Life at Ripley’s Aquarium
Another unique date idea would be to visit Ripley’s Aquarium and take in the sea life. They have an underwater tunnel for you to glide through and watch the sharks and fish from below.
Tickets are $40 per adult, but if you’re a Myrtle Beach local and have ID, you can receive 50% off.
Insider tip: If you’re looking for some extra fun, you can splurge on a Penguin Pass. In the Penguin Encounter, you get 30-minutes to hang out and touch a penguin. It’s an additional $70 on top of the admission ticket, but trust me, it’s super cool.
8. Murrells Inlet Marshwalk
The Murrells Inlet Marshwalk is a great place to go walk and talk. It’s located in the heart of Murrells Inlet and offers scenic views on your walk.
It’s a ½ mile boardwalk along a saltwater estuary. Watch the marsh grasses dance and look out for great white herons, blue herons, pelicans, and more.
When you’re done with the Marshwalk, you’re surrounded by plenty of waterfront diving and live nightly music.
9. Go On a Ghost Tour
If you’re in for a little spookiness, take your date for a ghost tour. It’s an excellent opportunity to hold them close while you’re regaled tales of centuries-old tragedies.

It used to be a popular way to ask people to prom, or even proposals, and it can serve as your own little romantic adventure as well.
Depending on your route, tours may last as little as 3 minutes or as long as 20 minutes. Take a spin in the sky and get a birds-eye view of the city, high-rise hotels, nearby beaches, or upgrade to more extensive rides that follow the coast as far as the North Carolina border.
12. Roller Skate at Fun Warehouse
Roller skating brings back a whole bunch of nostalgia. Luckily, it’s still alive and well in the Myrtle Beach scene.
Head over to Fun Warehouse, where you can participate in numerous fun activities. Roller skating can be a unique idea that not many couples take up.
When I was younger, it was all the rage, and everybody looked forward to coupling up with their sweetheart for a go around the rink. It’s $12 per person for all day skating, but that’s not all the Fun Warehouse offers!

Team up or play against each other in an epic game of laser tag. It’ll get the adrenaline running and your heart pumping.

I don’t know about you, but for me, one of the most fun and best things to do for a couple is playing mini-golf. Myrtle Beach, often referred to as the mini-golf capital of the world, has dozens of variants for you to play.

16. Break Out of Riddles Escape
Another unique date option is to do an escape room game. If you don’t mind being trapped in a room, you have one hour to discover puzzles, riddles, and clues or crack secret codes to escape the room.
The room isn’t really locked and you can get out at any point, but it could be fun to put your heads together and get a mental workout. Escape rooms require deduction and reasoning, so it could be something special.

The Carolina Opry, built in 1992, is a Grand Strand landmark. Calvin Gilmore, the man behind the legacy, has several shows that run throughout the year.

28. Grab a Crepe at Crepe Creation Café
One of my local favorites, Crepe Creation Café, is a great informal place to meet up for brunch or a cocktail.
They serve all kinds of delicious crepes in addition to other appetizers and entrees. The crepes are one-of-a-kind and will delight your senses.
They have a little bit of everything, from breakfast crepes to sweet crepes to savory crepes. They cover all your bases. Breakfast crepes are typically served until 12 PM, so you have all morning to stop by and get one.
If you’re stopping by in the evening, get one of their signature cocktails and your selection of crepes.
My personal recommendation would be to get a Banana’s Foster crepe split, but chances are it’ll be so good you’ll each want your own.
29. Melt Your Senses at The Melting Pot
The Melting Pot is the original fondue restaurant where guests can dip various foods in cheese and chocolate fondue. They make the fondue fresh at your table and provide skewers so you can safely dip your food in the hot, melted spreads.
There’s no other experience like this. It’s a spot for anything from your regular day to a special night out.
